Note: Regardless of what industry your company is in, you must stipulate a strict prohibition on alcohol in the employment terms. Otherwise, you cannot terminate an employment relationship because of alcohol consumption.

What happens if an employee comes to work in a drunken state?

As a rule, alcohol consumption can only lead to a summary dismissal after a prior warning. However, it also depends on the employee's activity. If, for example, they drive a bus, you can dismiss the employee immediately without notice.
